Sayville Rotary welcomed Ms. Sandra Peddie as our speaker this week, accompanied by fellow long time Newsday reporter, Mr. Rick Brand.  A gal from Minnesota, don't ya know, found Long Island to be the "Garden of Delights" which was derived from all the varied stories she and Newsday covered.
Some of these stories include the Sayville Motor Lodge Federal Sex Trafficking Case (which is still open), to Dr. William Spencer, Suffolk Count Legislator arrested for selling Oxy for sex.  The Bitcoining and Cyber Attack in Suffolk County is the longest attack recording in this country, with the point of the story being, officials knew about it.   More Garden delights included Crime family underboss John "Sonny" Franzese who Sandra got to interview before he passed on at nice age of 103 and finally, Nassau County Executive Ed Mangano story, where he was sentenced to 12 years for federal bribes.  Founded by  Alicia Patterson and her husband, Harry Guggenhein, Newsday was first produced on September 3, 1940.  Thank you to Newsday and Sandra for a great presentation!
