The Club welcomed Sayville Post Master Paul Achenbach as speaker today, 7/10.  Paul is technically the highest appointed federal official in town, with over 25 years working with the Post Office.  He started in 1998 as a letter carrier in Westbury and throughout the years, worked all over the Island appointed Postmaster of Sayville in May, 2018.  Today was an informative history lesson! Ben Franklin was the first Post Master General in 1775, with a seat on the President's cabinet.  The U.S. started out with 75 post offices that grew to over 40,000 today.  Although they are no longer funded by the U.S. government, the Post Office is the largest employer in the U.S. On the Horizon, new Electric Fleets are coming, and letter carrier consolidations will take place.  Carriers will soon have to drive to hub locations like Hauppauge, and service and products will be sold locally.  Thank you Paul!
