When you see a beautiful colored tile in the phlebotomy room where many children get their blood drawn, or when you see the painted mural in the Children's Hospital, think Splashes of Hope and founder Heather Buggée. A Huntington based 501 (c)3 non-for profit organization, Splashes of Hope is dedicated to creating art to transform spaces, enrich environments and facilitate children's healing process. The beautiful murals they paint on the walls of hospitals expand children's connections for conversation with each other, give them a distraction during their blood extractions, comforts and helps use their imaginations with other children during their hospital stay. Liz Schafer, Volunteer Coordinator and Studio Manger for Splashes of Hope gave the most inspiring presentation and what's next for Splashes of Hope. There is a valued connection between Splashes of Hope and the Rotary's four (4) Way Test
- Is it the TRUTH?
2. Is it FAIR to all concerned?
3. Will it build GOODWILL and
BETTER FRIENDSHIPS?
4. Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?
Splashes of Hope is expanding with its next workshop "Painting with a Purpose" on 9/1 at the Water's Edge in Huntington, painting a mural for a Radiation Unit Northport VA center. Further, offering their National Ovarian Cancer Coalition Retreat, and next mural project partnered with the wonderful Pal-O-Mine Equestrian organization (and let's not forget their Sayville Fire Island Bay Cruise Fundraiser for 2024).
