The Rotary Club of Sayville celebrated the 50th Anniversary of the Peace Pole Movement. This project was started 50 years ago on November 22nd by Rotary International as part of its peace and conflict resolution area of focus.
Many local Rotary clubs have been installing peace poles worldwide in support of this. Each pole carries the message “May Peace Prevail on Earth” in multiple languages, reminding communities everywhere of Rotary’s commitment to peace and conflict resolution. Sayville Rotarians installed a Peace Pole here on July 23, 2023 in the Native Garden in front of the Sayville Library. There are 61 Rotary Clubs in District 7255, including Sayville, who together are celebrating and promoting peace throughout the world. For more information on Peace Poles visit RotaryPeacePoles.world.
